The Cause Of Spine Pain And Its Treatment

Spine Pain

Spine pain or back pain is pain that is felt in the spine and it can originate from the muscles, joints, bones or any other part in it. This pain can be chronic, may arise suddenly, can be felt constantly or may be intermittent. It can also become severe to such an extent as to cause a piercing sensation. Spine pain is felt in the neck (and may travel up to the arm or hand), in the upper back, or in the lower part of the spine. This pain gives rise to other effects such as numbness, weakness, or a tingling sensation.

Spinal pain is one of the most common problems faced by a majority of the people in their thirties and forties. The spine interconnects with the nerves, joints, tendons, muscles, and ligaments, in all of which pain may be felt. Nerves from within the spine reach up into the legs and arms and can cause pain in these parts. Serious back pain that occurs with other types of illness such as fever or weight loss should be given immediate attention. Back pain that occurs after an accident should also be evaluated immediately.

The cause of back pain may be due to imbalances in muscles. These muscle imbalances result in pressure points in the spine and lead to pain. A ruptured or herniated disc is also a cause of back pain. Instability in the spine is another factor that can lead to back pain. Other reasons for problems in the back may be due to intestinal problems, kidney problems, heart disease, etc. Some parts of the back may feel delicate and become tender and the pain may increase even with a little movement. Proper treatment is essential before it gets too late and before the pain becomes too chronic and unbearable.

Medicines that are recommended to get immediate relief from back pain are acetaminophen and ibuprofen. A person who suffers from back pain should avoid any kind of strenuous activity. Further, bed rest is also not recommended for persons who suffer from the ailment. It has been observed that the person who suffers from back pain should be involved in continuous activity. A little exercise is also beneficial and reduces the discomfort. The bones of the spine should be made healthy if you follow a healthy and rich diet and exercise regularly.

The other treatment methods for spine pain are physical therapy, massage and manipulation of the spine. Acupuncture is a useful treatment to avoid recurrences of back pain. Surgical treatment is only prescribed when structural problems are observed in the spine. However, to get permanent relief from the ailment, you should go for surgery, especially, if the spine pain is chronic and extremely severe.
